Clarity Haynes works primarily in pastel and charcoal, which she finds to be uniquely suited to the portrayal of the softness and tactility of flesh. Her large-scale, iconic portraits of women challenge traditional ideals of feminine beauty and power. She has received many awards and grants, including a Cresson Travel Scholarship and a Window of Opportunity grant from the Leeway Foundation.
